Sometimes I wonder why I ever bother cleaning it all up in the first place
And then I realize: this little tornado is worth it.

Halloween was amazing this year. Who doesn't enjoy seeing a bunch of babies dressed up ridiculously and watching your friends rollerblade down the sidewalk?! I know I do.
See how much fun we all had??...
What's that you say? Charlie doesn't look like he's having FUN??
Still not seeing the joy there huh??
Well... that's probably because he was miserable. And wouldn't smile for anything. Or anyone...
Anyone that is, except his Nana and Papa. Who just happened to come see him right before the party. I guess after them, everything else was just a let down.
Regardless of Charlie's stoic-ness, Jon and I had a great time visiting with friends.
Below are the Overholts and DeMenthes, dressed as crayons. Creative huh?
Jailbirds vs Indians...{is it just me or does my head look huge? Maybe it's the teased hair?!}
And absolutely nothing says Halloween like a smoking horse/baby.

Indian Outlaw
I know you are coming on here in hopes of seeing Charlie in his Halloween gear, but while I am still editing some photos and getting some more pictures from friends, please enjoy this video of Brittan, my dear Indian friend.
It was probably the highlight of our Halloween evening.
See what I mean about falling? It really is funny.
I should mention that Brittan is fine. No one, including any Indians, were truly injured during the making of this film and she has given me permission to share this tragedy with the world wide web. Or at least my blog readers :)
She and Leah {see following video} decided to get out the rollerblades for some good old- fashioned fun. It was highly entertaining... even to Leah's little girl, Abby, who kept saying "Mommy's funny!"

What is it about people falling down that we find so hilarious? I try really, REALLY hard not to laugh because let's face it...we've all been there. We have all tripped or fallen and hoped and prayed that nobody was a witness to the tragedy. But still I laugh. Even at the cheesy, staged falls on America's Funniest Videos, I laugh.
Try as you might, you know you get a good chuckle out of it...even if it is just a baby.
And yes, we did laugh at this video. Several times.

Matching Cousins
Sheryl, Andy, and Bradley made a visit Monday evening after they had a photography session in Cookeville. Bradley walked in dressed as a skunk...a Halloween preview...and even "sprayed" us with his tail.
We always have a great time visiting with the Escues and wish we got to see them more often. I can't believe how big Bradley is getting and love talking with him now. He even asked me what I had been doing that day. And actually listened when I told him. Adorable.
And apparently since Bradley saw the picture of Charlie standing on the couch, looking out the window, he has wanted to do that. So here they are. Matching pjs and all. {And I promise Charlie is not scared of Bradley, just caught him at a bad moment!}
The boys may be three months apart, but there is one activity they both love: watching Baby Einstein. Isn't it amazing? Keeps my boy's eyes glued to the screen for 27 minutes and gives me a chance to take a shower. William loves the video too. Here they are watching together...
When we weren't at Anna's house, Charlie and I spent our time at Uncle Jason and Aunt Anita's. I really love getting to spend time with them and I am starting to notice how Charlie loves being around Sara and Hallie as well. Sara waves at Charlie and says "Heyyyy" right in his face which I think is hilarious. Apparently she waves to his picture in their den all the time and then, POOF, there is the real Charlie. In person. It's adorable.
Hallie began calling him "little man" and takes care of him like the little mama she is. When he cries, she says "he needs his pacie" and proceeds to dig through the baby bag until she finds one. And when he's sleepy, she says "Charlie needs his blankie." Very true Hallie Bug.
Charlie loves snuggling in Anita's lap as shown below. Although, at the point of this picture, all three were enjoying some snuggle time. It was a preview of what's to come when Brooks gets here in March. Talk about having your hands (and lap) full!
And I absolutely adore watching Jason with Charlie. I know I've seen him with kids before, but there's something about watching your siblings with your baby. It melts my heart.
Papa and Nana were a huge help since I was a single parent this weekend. They even let Charlie spend the night with them Saturday night so that I could get a great night's sleep sans baby.
And although I have no pictures to show, we had an amazing time Saturday afternoon with some old friends of ours, the Breland/Spain/Gardner families. We hadn't seen them in years and it was so fun to see how their families have grown and to watch a whole new generation play together. I think Hallie even had a little crush on Angela's oldest, Joel.
Charlie and I stayed until Monday morning so Sunday night, we made the weekly trip to Publix with Jason and Anita. Hallie wanted to take a picture with the "pumpkin man" outside the store and then proceeded to call me "Uncle Julie" the rest of the time there. I was slightly amused. I guess it's payback for encouraging Elizabeth to say "Uncle 'Nita" when she was about the same age as Hallie. In fact, as I type this, I'm not so sure that Anita didn't just SUGGEST that Hallie call me that :)
It was a wonderful weekend, despite being exhausted and having to sing "This Little Light of Mine" for the last 45 minutes of our trip home. Needless to say, I was a bit hoarse on Tuesday. I think Charlie is still fighting a cold and ear infection so your prayers are appreciated. Hope you are having a fantastic week!
